SC - HSC Fees

Category: General |

What more needs to be said about the ongoing saga between the government on one side, and on the other - parents, students, organizations truly concerned by the need to pay for exam fees in full, along with opposition political parties trying to get some free publicity from the issue?

The second manifestation was organized yesterday in Rose-Hill, forcing the main road to be temporarily closed to the traffic, and shops and businesses ceased their operations for a couple of hours also.

James has extensively blogged about both manifestations that were organized here and here.

I was also present for the ‘event’ - mainly for the fun of it :P, along with beb and Kyle. Even though I am no more concerned by the fact that exam fees will need to be paid in full, I do agree that this is a politically and socially BAD move made by the government. The only ones to blame are actually themselves, if they hadn’t tried to win the elections with the ‘Free Transport’ bait, they wouldn’t have been trying now to find ways of funding the country’s running expenses. Well, I hate politics and all those involved in it - that’s enough talking about them :).

Some shots I took yesterday:

An overview of the hugeeeeeeeeeee crowd present:

The police force were well prepared also in case anything happened, and we couldn’t help notice this guy :P a CHINESE police officer in Mauritius, now - that’s RARE!

There were also dozens of strong and fearless guys that had been hired for the day to see to it that the manifestation went well - they could be identified by their cool uniforms with ‘Servis Dord’ written in the front:

There was a group of students that preceded the main group of demonstrators, among which I identified a fruit seller [ must be concerned about his business! ], who were clearly not interested with the main cause of the event but mainly to ‘mette la faya’ as would be the local term…

[ in the right corner ]

… [ and in the left corner ]

they were well contained by the blue line of police muppets.

I also found out on the day that the job of a photographer can be full of risks! What shouldn’t these guys do to get the best possible shot.

Kyle illustrated this pretty well below!! [ notice James’s sullen look :P ]

James was back to normal moments later though - when he got his own ‘platform’! See the big smile :D.

His joy was ,however, short-lived - because when the rally did arrive up to him….

…Kyle hijacked him along with his prized ‘podium’ - which is actually a litter bin for those who couldn’t notice. :)
But hey James, you did enjoy a good meal afterwards! ;) - See my previous post for details of the lunch!

The authorization for displaying the persons shown on my shots was not sought by the concerned. All complaints will not be taken into consideration.

Ooops. I forgot to add a couple of short vidz I shot there.

A little message in the name of the MinisterClown of Education:

The group of students that was preceding the main groups were putting on a ’show’ that used to be seen only withing stadiums during high school sports events:

NOTICE: I’M NOT FOR THAT GOVERNMENT!!!

but as i was discussing on that day with some friends of the press, you must take into consideration that mauritians depend too much on the government for everything. thats too easy, they are lazy and don’t want to work which ever political party which is in the government.

simple example: dimoune dir pena kash! pays dan bez, tou p vine cher! li vrai MAIS ena dimoune ki dir pena kas la ek ki p vive dan lacaz tole crase crase SEULEMENT nek leve la tete gete lor toit lacaz la ki ena! CANAL SAT ou PARABOLE!!! alor??? (n)

MO RE-DIR MO PAS POUR SA GOUVERNMENT LA! C simplement 1 realiter
